Just made a note on my blog about the obvious potential for a collaboration between me.edu.au and agimo's 'citizen account' initiative. Any comments are appreciated

Hi Richard thanks for your input and yes something certainly the project team are investigating the best approach to solve this issue of tags - especially in the communities. We are certainly aware and currently doing an overall audit just to see what other communities may be effected - elearning, e-Learning is one clear example that could have an easy solution

We are promoting the use of the tag showme as a means of making good practical ideas in the use of ICT easy to find. For more information on this, try a search on showme and have a look at the Introduction blog entry.

Hi John, Thanks for your feedback. Yeah, I'm not for a moment suggesting that anyone can't have any group that they would like; I guess my idea was just more a "tidying up" of themes that were very clearly the same thing, ie. e-learning and eLearning. Specific groups would still have their own tag. Perhaps some sort of taxonomy might come out alongside of the tags at some future point. I guess my "tag feedback / recommendation" something, was the establishment of a tagged group / discussion area that could discuss and make suggestions towards groups that might naturally fit together. Or perhaps it might be more of an admin thing from your side that offers suggestions or so on. Richard

Good point Richard. We are planning to address this. However it is a delicate issue. We don't want to arbitrarily move people from one community to another without their sayso. Also some communities are purposely set up with unique names. A real opportunity in me.edu.au is that people can set up quite small and special interest communities, like a xyz community that is just for half a dozen people with a common purpose, and who are not really looking to advertise. However you are right in that some communities are misspellings or accidental ones. Could you say a bit more about "tag feedback recommendation" ?

Hi everyone, This is a very very fascinating service. One minor suggestion - perhaps there could be a very selective combining / merging of tag communities that are basically identical, eg. e-learning and elearning, mLearning / Mobile Learning and professional development / teacher professional development are pretty obvious ones. Gifted education / gifted learners and Educational technology / educators use of new technologies and 3 web2.0 groups were others I saw from a quick glance. This would discourage the uncertainty of which group on the topic to join and enable a larger community of similarly interested people to find a wider audience. I would be happy to assist in a process or perhaps a "tag feedback recommendation" group could be set up. Richard

There is a new idendity in me.edu.au called About Me, which is an additional source of help and ideas about how to use me.edu.au effectively. Just do a search for "about me" and you will see this identity. Soon, with the launch of the blog next week, there will be a steady flow of information in the blog on how people are using me.edu.au. You can also add a question to About Me's whiteboard and we will post a response on the whiteboard or direct to to information, videos etc in About Me's blog. Comments and ideas most welcome as well.

Blog comes to me.edu.au The professional networking service me.edu.au will soon include a blog as significant new tool. This will coincide with me.edu.au moving out of beta version. me.edu.au is a professional networking service and provides a simple and easy to use service to connect people of similar interests. The blog will allow users to go into more detail about their view and interests and include the full range of blog features including images and videos. Why use the me.edu.au blog? Members of me.edu.au who already have a blog may ask: why start a new blog here? One answer is that there is an option to link one's me.edu.au blog to an external blog. Another is that there are some impressive functions that come from working within a blog + environment like me.edu.au. Chief among these is the search capacity. A search in me.edu.au for 'internet, safety', for example, brings up a comprehensive search result for the whole site. So this reveals blog posts, Communities, personal profiles and whiteboa

Suggestions/Feedback from me.edu.au workshop - Melbourne, 22nd May 2008. 1. To be able to choose and display multiple roles and education sectors within your profile. 2. A icon placed next to the members within a community to determine whether their profiles are public or private.

Thanks Nick, If I could just get out I would love to attend. You might be interested in this one, so far as features are concerned. Can't see any mention of IP telephony around edna. http://blog.wikimedia.org/2008/04/29/open-source-telephony/#comment-202
