INVITATION You?re invited to participate in an open conversation about collaboration in teaching and learning (CTL), online from 3 October 2008 to 14 November 2008 at http://www.groups.edna.edu.au/course/view.php?id=2010 The Collaboration in Teaching and Learning Tankette is being conducted by education.au (www.educationau.edu.au) as part of the Strategic ICT Advisory Service it is providing to the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR). To participate, you will need to register at edna groups at http://groups.edna.edu.au/ and use the group invitation key CTL2010. WHY PARTICIPATE? The CTL Tankette (a small think tank), and the associated supporting materials, will provide DEEWR with information to feed into their policy making process.

Tony: If you have a GProxy at school then it is a cinch to add a Blog/Website which can be easily monitored. Otherwise, any blog site will work via the DET network. BUT, anyone can view/edit/comment your blog so you will have to be on your toes all the time viewing and moderating your site. My staff use the GProxy. Much easier and is meeting the needs at the moment.

Latest news: Blog comes to me.edu.au The professional networking service me.edu.au will soon include a blog as significant new tool. This will coincide with me.edu.au moving out of beta version. me.edu.au is a professional networking service and provides a simple and easy to use service to connect people of similar interests. The blog will allow users to go into more detail about their view and interests and include the full range of blog features including images and videos. Why use the me.edu.au blog? Members of me.edu.au who already have a blog may ask: why start a new blog here? One answer is that there is an option to link one's me.edu.au blog to an external blog. Another is that there are some impressive functions that come from working within a blog + environment like me.edu.au. Chief among these is the search capacity. A search in me.edu.au for 'internet, safety', for example, brings up a comprehensive search result for the whole site. So this reveals blog posts, Communities, personal profiles

Bloggers Unite is an initiative designed to harness the power of the blogosphere to make the world a better place. By challenging bloggers to blog about a particular social cause on a single day, a single voice can be joined with thousands of others to help make a real positive difference; from raising awareness for cancer, to an effort to better education systems or support 3rd world countries. It is an interesting perception of the power of blogging, and reminds me a bit of Howard Rheingold?s concept of Smart Mobs. Bloggers Unite For Human Rights challenges bloggers everywhere to help elevate human rights by drawing attention to the challenges and successes of human rights issues on May 15. What those topics may include ? the wrongful imprisonment of journalists covering assemblies, governments that ignore the plight of citizens, and censorship of the Internet. What is important is that on one day, thousands of bloggers unite and share their unified support of human rights everywhere.
